No one knows the exact time Shwedagon pagoda was built but according to the historists and archaeology, it has approximately 2.500 years old, built in from 6th to 10th centuries. However, some traditional documents showed that Shwedagon pagoda is one of the most long-standing Buddhism works in Myanmar particularly and in the world in general.
Located on Singutta hill, Shwedagon pagoda is the mighty and majestic complex with more than 1000 pagodas surrounding. The central tower is a masterpiece with nearly 110 meters in height, gilded and encrusted with 4.531 sparkling diamonds.
In addition, the top of the tower hangs 1.065 golden bells and 421 silver bells in total. Under the daylight as well as the lights at night, the pagoda always irradiates the twinkle rays of light.
With the magnitude size, Shwedagon pagoda is the center of religion as well as the community activities in Myanmar. Meanwhile, this great architectural work is an important tourism destination. Even, it is said that the journey to Myanmar will be incomplete if you have never paid a visit to Shwedagon pagoda.
